The night before Christmas

Zombie version! I had an idea, and I would like the boards to help me out. Its the Night before Christmas, only zombie invasion style, never heard of one before.
Here be the reference poem.
I have made this so far, if anyone can think of changes, please, do so.

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all the people were dead
Zombies were hungry, and feasting on heads.
The stockings were soaked by flying blood in the air,
A disturbing sight for all who would pass by there.

The children were hiding under the beds
While visions of doom danced in their heads.
And Mama on lookout, and me with my gun,
Had just settled down, hoping to see the next dawn.

When on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Fearing the zombies had found our escape hatch.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of moving creatures down below.
When, what to my terrified eyes should appear
But a veritable horde of flesh eating deer.

With dried blood on their snout, and hunger in their eyes,
I knew in a moment we were likely to die.
More rapid than eagles, they descended upon our hideout,
And in a start, my childrens names I called out.

"Now Jimmy! Now Betty!
Now, Hank and Dean!
Run, Brock! Run, Thaddius!
Run, Triana and Byron!
To the door to the cellar!
To the bottom of the Basement!
Now run away! For your lives!
Run and hide all!"

Very good. The last bit doesn't go over well in my head though. Tends to lose the rhyme scheme somewhere.....did love the Venture Bros. reference though.

Will post more later. Lots of work to do here first though.
