Survivor: The Badlands OOC
I've been interested in trying out this new idea I had and thought I'd test drive it here on the forum to see if you all get into it as much as I think I am.
This will be an RP set in the wastes of a world long after the end. Technology is scarce, but not as scarce as fresh water. Rolling sand dunes stretch for miles in all directions. Survivors cling to one another to live out in the desolate wastes left behind. It is a dangerous time. A time of death, despair and loss. It is up to you to survive by any means necessary in this world. Make friends, battle enemies, discover forgotten wells and rebuild lost technology. You are...

Re: Survivor: The Badlands OOC
For this RP I will be doing the part of all of the NPCs and setting the scenes. This won't be too different for what you guys are used to when I normally DM. I plan to do all of that from the Dungeon Master account I have created and will be giving full Mod control to for this forum.
When creating your character there are 3 choices.
Scavenger: When the world threw up, you were the result. A scavenger preys on the innocents and takes what they can for themselves. Robbing, raping, killing, all of this comes second nature to the Scavenger. There is nobody to tell you no, save other Scavengers that want what you have and Survivors willing to fight for what they have.
Innocent: In a world without hope, you are the last light to hang on to. You believe in a better life, a better world and you know that you can't get it by destroying everything and everyone that you come into contact with. With all this hope, but no will to fight, you have no choice, but to pray for a Survivor from the Wastes to save you from the Scavengers.
Survivor: Wandering alone in the Wastes gains you very little good. It's an empty world with few friends. The Innocents don't often trust you unless they need something. The Scavengers don't trust you because you don't join a gang. You live going from one town to another finding any way you must to survive without becoming another merchant of death or target for attack.

Scavenger class details
Scavenger: Vicious and brutal, the Scavenger is most deadly due to the vast arsenal of salvaged goods that they have "found" in the Badlands. Due to the amount of time he has spent using these items he has gotten quite good at repairing them. Once per day he gets an automatic success on any rolls involving repairing broken relics.
The Scavenger is a war monger and a tyrant of the Badlands and is versed in many weapons. This gives him a bonus towards purchasing starting weapons. When purchasing starting weapons he does so at 4 less than standard cost (not less than 1).
The Scavenger is many things, but a craftsman is not one of them. He is at no disadvantage when it comes to taking shelter that he comes to. He receives no bonus towards his gear points when purchasing starting shelter.
While he is a fearsome warrior, he is no farmer or medic. The Scavenger hasn't the first idea of how to maintain land or perform first aid. When purchasing food and medical gear he does so at a cost of 2 higher than standard cost.
Scavengers are only as strong as the fear that others have for them and their crew. If they are unable to maintain their reputation they are unable to trade goods with others, this includes other Scavengers.

Innocent class details
Innocent: Loyalty and hope are the sign of a true Innocent. The world may be barren to the eye, but an Innocent sees things differently. They see the boon that having surviving the fallout of the old world really is. When so many have died or worse the Innocent gathers together all that they can find to make a new world...a better world. Once per day the Innocent gains an automatic success on any roll used to heal themselves or others.
The Innocent is a peaceful and a caring warden of the Badlands and is not interested in the ways of battle. This means that when purchasing starting weapons, he does so at a cost of 2 higher than standard cost.
The Innocent can turn a puddle into an oasis or carve a city into a mountain face. He is at mild advantage when it comes to finding and building shelter. When purchasing starting shelter the Innocent does so at a cost of 2 less than standard cost (not to go below 1).
Farmers and medics are in great supply among the Innocent people. In his quest for peace he is always ready to mend and feed those that come to his aid. When purchasing food and medical gear the Innocent does so at a cost of 2 less than standard cost (not to go below 1)
Innocents do not consider themselves weak, but because of their lack of battle aptitude they are never especially trusting of newcomers. This distrust can sometimes cost them dearly. Innocents are unable to trade with anyone that is not introduced to them by another Innocent.

Survivor class details
Survivor: It's what you do, it's who you are. A Survivor is a native of the Wastes and appreciates what help and danger lies beyond the horizons of any camp or city erected in the Badlands. He survives on his wit, his word and in some cases on the kindness of strangers. Once per day the Survivor gains an automatic success on any roll involving convincing others to trade or give shelter.
The Survivor has lived in the Wastes for long enough to know the best places to rest, where edible food grows and how to use and repair his own weapons. This is truly the reason for where the Survivor gets his name. Unlike the Scavenger and the Innocent, a Survivor has a sliding scale of points to choose from. The survivor receives 6 bonus gear points to be applied as he wishes, however all of the items on the tables cost 2 more than their standard cost.
Survivors are cunning and careful, not willing to become an easy pick for Scavengers or be made to do the dirty work of the Innocents without proper recompense. While the life of a Survivor is a free one, he is not trusted easily and loved by none. In some cases Scavengers and Innocents, left to die in the Wastes will become Survivors.
