Tokyo Rush Mateusz-Kolek-Yakuza


System: Vampire:the Masquerade

Setting: 1960's Japan

Background: It is a big scary world and while the US is busy with the Cold War and Vietnam, Japan is finally taking an economic rise. This is due to three big factors; desire to rebuild after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Prime Minister Ikeda Hayato and a lot of Yakuza backing. Betting on the future of their investments, the Yakuza have found key roles in the rebuilding society and have inserted as many of their people as possible. With the severity of the situation the Yakuza have stretched out their hands and hired on several outside contractors to handle jobs that require special attention this includes, but is not limited to the Kindred of the East.

Twist: The Yakuza are bound to uphold their image. If you dishonor them or disrespect them, you will be punished. In some cases this can be very severe.

Added Bonus: The Sabbat are off limits, however the Kindred of the East are open for all players per DM approval.

Well, the first game off without much trouble. The players finished characters around 8 and we dove in. We had to call at 9:30 though so Jacob's parents wouldn't get pissed at him.

So far they've managed to NOT be killed by the Yakuza and also NOT be killed by the Kuei-jin. They HAVE however managed to get themselves involved in a game of cat and mouse between the Yamaguchi-Gumi Underboss and the Nosferatu Councilman. Fun!

I'm really liking it. While I was coming up with this game I decided to try to build a game in a place I never had before. I've done all over europe, I've done russia, I've done bits and pieces of america...it pretty much left Canada, Mexico, Japan, Greenland, Africa, Austrailia, South America and the North and South poles. I know that sounds like a lengthy list, but the reason why I haven't run games in some of those palces is because either they hold no interest for me on a game design level or I know next to nothing about them (mostly this one). This creates the issue that I would need to study the area and what kind of stuff the party could be dealing with. After a bit of messing with the idea of a game in Mexico I went with Japan and I think it has a ton of potential...so much so I wonder why I never did this before.

I think that a Mexico game is definitely incoming though, just an fyi.

Encounter 1 is done as of last week. The group did really well and I'm pleased to see a bunch of young gamers that are as in to it as we were at their ages. It really makes me pleased to be a part of it.

The question you asked I will answer with another question.

If you take a movie like Taken and you remove Liam Neeson and replace him with Jason Statham does it then become the Transporter? In my mind...yes.

If you insert you Kyasid into a game with minimal to no driving, then it becomes a driving game.

Last night it became official that we've lost a member for this game. Due to some conflict that couldn't be resolved the group has been shortened down to 2 players which, as you all know my rule, is a virtually unplayable game. The amount of punches I have to pull becomes so big just due to the lack of depth between characters.

Because of this I have been prompted to extend an invitation to anyone that wants to play with this group. The remaining players are really involved and the game has a lot of potential. If you want more details than I have provided let me know. I hope that any of you have time to do this. It would be a shame to have to box up this chronicle before it even gets to the second chapter.
